lately i have been spending some serious quality time at the table, brush in hand, bent over a white piece of paper, trying my best not to smear ink, or spill tea on it. i am using various brushes, inks and papers from the art shop here in Panjim, and also my pride and joy -- squirrel hair brushes from a miniature painting school in Jaipur. i will post photos of my experience in Jaipur soon, but for now, i have made this series of photos to show my process for the inks.
as you can see, or not see, i sketch very lightly...

let the drawing begin!

decided last minute to add a second tower behind to give more depth.

when i compose a drawing, i usually have some ideas drawn in my journal that i use for reference. .................. . . . . . . . . . and there's leela sleeping!

drawing almost complete, i ended up changing the door before inking.

laying in the ink, and carefully -- but not too careful.

tedious work, i could use an assistant. . . anyone?

painting tiny leaves is fun... and takes forever.

one more bush to go...

i am always happy to finish a painting, especially when it turns out right... i smile.

and seen here hanging freely with the others.
